All 4 E's
I read an excerpt from "Orange Is the NEW Black: My Year IN Women's Prison". This piece was written by Piper Kerman. I was introduced to the piece as a sample essay, in The Norton Field Guide To Writing With Readings. First of all, I consider this piece educational, because it was an excellent example of a memoir. This piece was also entertaining it kept me interested wondering why this woman was going to prison. It was enlightening, because I am a fan of the Netflix original show The Orange is the New Black and never knew it was based on a book. You also could feel emotion in the writing, as Kerman speaks of her anguish, while turning herself in to the prison. This whole story is of a woman turning herself into prison, for crimes committed years earlier. I feel this was an excellent example where a writer uses all of the four E's of reading and writing.

I never knew that OITNB was based on a book. I only watched a few episodes but never paid it much attention. That has made me curious to read it and now I can not wait for the next season so that I can catch up on it.
